The Book of Amos is a very important book of prophecy for our peoples today.
The prophet Amos was an herdsman. He was not of the priestly cast, nor was he one of the sons of the prophets. Yet, as is the case many times when God calls someone to a special duty, God often calls the lowliest of men and woman to do His Work.
As the Apostle Paul said, God so often calls the weak of this world, and those that are despised, and the foolish of this world to confound the mighty, and to show them that nothing is possible without the power of God, and that with that power, all things are indeed possible.
So, God called this humble herdsman one day, and Amos objected, and pointed out to God all of the things stated above. He made many excuses, becuase he did not want the job God had called him to, yet, in the end, he had no choice but to heed God's call and give God's word -- His UNWELCOME WORD -- to a sinful and a wicked nation.
Most of the words are a prophecy for our time today, and for our nations of national Israel. They are not "smooth things" that people want to hear. It is not a popular message -- rather it is a message that thunders dire warnings from GOD ALMIGHTY that unless our sinful people repent of our sins, and turn to God, then eventually He will become so angry that He finally says to us: "Prepare to meet your God, oh Israel!"
And we are most certainly NOT prepared to meet Him!
Yet, our people ask "in what way have we sinned?"
Amos counts the ways.
He says that a LION HAS ROARED! And further, he says that GOD ALMIGHTY IS THAT LION, and that He is roaring in anger against our peoples today!
It will become so bad, that fully 90% of our people will die before the return of Christ if we do not repent! That is the message of the Book of Amos to our nations today, and we had better heed that warning!
I am convinced now that it is NO ACCIDENT that Hurricane Katrina laid waste several cities along the Gulf Coast of the United States, striking vital resources and infrastructure. And now, as I write these lines, another horrible hurricane is bearing down on the Texas coast, due to strike in less than 24 hours from now.
So many of us thought that last year's hurrican season was bad -- and it was! But this one could very well be worse!
God punishes in steps. He sends His punishments, and then He generally pauses for a short time to see if there is repentance. And if there is none, then, according to Deuteronomy 28 [which I suggest you read immediately, as it has VITAL PROPHECIES FOR OUR PEOPLES TODAY], God then punishes SEVEN TIMES MORE FOR YOUR SINS!
So, each cycle of ever incrasing punishment is SEVEN TIMES GREATER than the previous round. And eventually, as it says both in that chapter and in the book of Amos, God will eventually have had enough and He will BREAK OUT IN FURY UPON US!
I also find it interesting that in Deut. 28 it says "you have sown the wind, and you shall REAP THE WHIRLWIND!"
And what is a hurricane but a whirlwind?
But Amos also says, as does Paul to Timothy, that our people will tell the prophets NOT TO PROPHECY, and yet, if the prophet will remain true to God, HE MUST!
In today's Real Truth webcast, I cover chapters 2-5 of this pivotal Book of Amos. These chapters show our national sins in explicit detail, tell us to repent NOW, and, if we won't, it tells us that God Almighty will be like a ROARING LION, setting about to devour our sinful nations. In the end, if we won't heed, our cities will be laid desolate, and without inhabitant.
This cycle has started NOW, and we had better listen to God Almighty, or suffer the consequences!

Hello all,
A funny thing happened over the past couple of days. It was not expected or planned, but just one of those things that "just happens." Of course, I don't believe in coincidences anymore -- I haven't for a long, long time -- in the Work of God.
While I was searching for material on evolution and creation, as I want to start a series at least in our library on these topics, I came across a couple of sermons at the Friends of the Sabbath website archive that I found to be very intriguing.
One was called "A Tribute to Herbert Armstrong," by Ronald Dar. The other was "The Mind of Herbert Armstrong,' by Ralph Helge. And finally, in that same archive, there was a message by Kevin Dean in 1996, when he "came out of the closet" and "told all" about the lies of Joseph Tkach, as well as many other revealing and interesting comments on Mr. Armstrong fro a totally different perspective than most others have.
I listened to all 3 messages last night, and then other messages have come to mind since them, and i believe I know where they are and how to ger them s that they can all be placed together.
Herbert W. Armstrong was, at the same time, easily the greatest promoter of God's Truth in almost 2000 years, but, he was bigger than life for many, and, as often happens with great men, a swirl of controversy surrounds him.
We live in a very cynical time today, as the forces of evil and political correctness have sought to strip our nation of its heroes.
They have spattered mud over the founding fathers, saying uncomplimentary things about such greats as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, among others.
The reason they want to tear dwn our national heroes is becausee they want to REVISE history in their own sick, twisted, and perverted image. They want to bring out new heroes that teach things their way, and throw dirt, trash, and manure over those who espoused and taught philiosophies that they so virulently hate.
Their work of revisionism and recasting history into their image is almost complete in our public schools, which is another reason they had to throw God and the Bible out of the classroom. This is why it is OK with them to teach Islam, Bhuddism, and even WITCHCRAFT in the public schools, but they will suspend your child for daring to even bring a Bible to class! They want to mold the next generation into their atheist, secular, and often times PAGAN and sinful worldview. And to do so, our founding fathers must be ridiculed and relegated to the dustbin of history.
We as humans have the very big problem of wanting to put our heres onto pedastals so that we can worship them. We want to make our human heroes of the past bigger than life, as if they are not human, and do not make mistakes. Unfortunately, this leads to abandonment of these same heroes when it is proved that they were human, and had faults after all!
It is the same with Mr. Armstrong. Most church members had an image BIGGER THAN LIFE of this man. He was put on a very high pedastal, both by the brethren and some in the ministry who may have had other than pure motives at times. He was a figure bigger than life, or so it seemed.
But, in delving into the truth of these matters and the historical record, I know that Mr. Armstrong didn't feel cmfortable on any kind of pedastal. He knew that he was just a man like you or I, and that he did indeed make mistakes.
It is now almost 20 years since the death of Mr. Armstrong. That anniversary will be this coming January.
But, as this Festival season rapidly approaches, we are soon going to be celebrating the Feast of Trumpets, which, according to the Jews, is the beginning of their civil new year. So Trumpets is an end and a beginning, and it is in this season that we would do well to remember and learn from our past. We need to digest what has happened and why, and to learn God's lesson for us in it.
On this Feast of Trumpets upcoming, it will be 20 YEARS SINCE MR. ARMSTRONG GAVE HIS LAST SERMON!
Amazing, isn't it? And, for Trumpets this year, I believe God has inspired me to replay this sermon, and this sermon will also be archived in our website library history section.
But, there is more. God expects us to learn the lessons of our past so that we can move on, and so that we can grow and overcome so that we may qualify to be kings and priests in God's Kingdom.
I was very touched by the messages I heard last night. Touched, moved, saddened...... But I learned something special from Mr. Dart's message that I hadn't heard before until last night.
Mr. Dart talked about the "old days" of Ambassador College and the Worldwide Church of God, and how it was different from the "latter days." I also remember that I did hear a message from Garner Ted Armstrong on this same line, and will attempt to also find that message as well.
Something special was lost in the shuffle after about 1967. Terrible things happened both to the church and to Mr. Armstrong during the '70's that we have never come to grips with either.
And then, starting in 1979, after literally resurrecting Mr. Armstrong from a near death experience, God raised him up to "put God's church back on His track." Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, he was only partially successful.
There is much to this story. After I get finnished making the new uploads to the History section of the Library, and listening to and reviewing the material, I will have some comments, both on the past, and where we as God's people "go from here."
Satan has done a lot of damage to all of us, both individually and collectively.
The Bible says about the "foolish" and "oppressive" shepherds that they don't bind up the wounds, neither do they treat them. They don't care for the sheep by attending to the wounds and scars. Instead, they pretend that they don't exist. They think if they ignore it it will go away.
And, if any of you understand the human mind, you know that suppression not only doesn't work, it often makes the problem worse.
It's about time now, as the 20th anniversary of Mr. Armstrong's death rolls around, that we come to grips with what happened and with what is happening. Only by objectively looking at the facts can we deal with them, and so move on to the perfection that God would have us attain.
I believe that God has put this information under my nose for a reason, and that reason is that His time has come to deal with these issues in a balanced, fair way.
Yes, there were some mistakes and some things were done wrong. Another prolblem with human nature is that we often think that criticism and pointing out error means we "hate" the one we are discussing.
Nothing could be further from the truth. We get this idea from worldly rulers and people, who think that anything but praise means that we hate them. Unfortunately, many of God's people and ministers have this same idea. They have gotten to the point where they will REJECT any criticism of them, and think that anyone who would dare show them where they are wrongis an enemy and "out to get them."
I know, because I have had run ins with many holier than thou folks who think they are beyond criticism, or pointing out their errors. And when you do criticize semething they believe -- even from a firm Biblical foundation -- you become public enemy number 1 and they won't even answer the sincere crticism [Please note that I am NOT referring to mean spirited, personal attacks that are totally unfounded, or the asking of mean spirited, rhetorical questions to belittle or embarass someone else. This approach is the one used by the Pharisees to try and entrap and discredit Jesus, and this is NOT what I am talking about here. I am talking about SINCERE questions, and pointing out in LOVE from the Bible where someone is wrong. That is something totally different all together, and is something GOD HATES!].
The Bible is "hard on its heroes", not because it wants to belittle them, or defile them, or attack them, or because God hates them. No. The Bible just gives us an honest view of its heroe's lives, good and bad alike. This is because God wants us to learn from the lessons He has taught them, in hopes that we won't have to go through the same bad experiences.
It was never, nor is, God's intention to put people on a pedastal. He shows us their good points and their faults, because that is the only way we will learn from them.
But in God's church for a long time now, there have been attempts by some to hide the facts. That is not the right approach. That is the approach of Satan and his world, in order to cast a false image that everything is just fine when it is not. God is open about these things.
We are going to be conducting an in depth search through our own history of the recent path. Not to denigrate anyone. Not to belittle, but to LEARN the lessons God wants us to learn from these things, so that we may press onward towards our great calling, so that the dirty linen may be clean, and so that we will become spotless and blameless and ready to meet Christ at His return.

Hello all,
This has been a real sad week for us, as we watch the scenes of human suffering unfold on our television screens 24 hours a day, depending on which channel you are watching.
For many, the magnitude of this disaster is only now beginning to set in. Only now are we beginning to understand what some commentators are already calling "The Worst Disaster in History" for the United States.
Never before has an entire large US city been declared "uninhabitable," with perhaps a hundred thousand or more hapless refugees still trapped in squalid conditions in merciless heat, with no sanitary facilities, and with food and drinkable water scarce.
And, just today, they had to temporarily suspend the already SLOW evacuation because of gunshots being fired at rescue helicopters!
All I can say is "unbelievable!"
And there are many smaller cities that hve been wiped off the face of the earth, leaving not one building standing.
And then there is the Gulf coast of Mississippe.... also total devastation from a wall of water that Katrina brought in as a storm surge, destroying buildings, and tossing cars around like toys.
And the blow to the economy will also be unbelievable, and could finally tip the already faltering US economy into the worst depression the world has ever seen.
The insruance claims alone may bankrupt the most important financial services industry in the nation.
Not to mention the escalating fuel costs and shortages and what all of that will bring.
And, just where is GOD in all of this mess?
Is He still with "The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave?"
I would have to say the answer to THAT is NO, He is sick and tired of our sinful way of life and is finally taking punitive action.
Most of you do not know that there was a planned GAY DEBAUCH FESTIVAL scheduled for New Orleans, where gays would engage in perverted sex acts in public, as they have done in previous years.
But of course, that is only ONE reason God was not with that city this week.
This should serve as a warning and a wake up call to ALL OF US that God's patience is wearing thin if not exhausted, and that if we do not repent of our national sins and turn to Him, then our cities will ALL be laid waste, and without inhabitant!
So, consider this a very serious WARNING ONLY of FAR WORSE TO COME in the very near future unless we as a nation straighten out and straighten out NOW!

This has been a real sad week for us, as we watch the scenes of human suffering unfold on our television screens 24 hours a day, depending on which channel you are watching.
For many, the magnitude of this disaster is only now beginning to set in. Only now are we beginning to understand what some commentators are already calling "The Worst Disaster in History" for the United States.
Never before has an entire large US city been declared "uninhabitable," with perhaps a hundred thousand or more hapless refugees still trapped in squalid conditions in merciless heat, with no sanitary facilities, and with food and drinkable water scarce.
And, just today, they had to temporarily suspend the already SLOW evacuation because of gunshots being fired at rescue helicopters!
All I can say is "unbelievable!"
And there are many smaller cities that hve been wiped off the face of the earth, leaving not one building standing.
And then there is the Gulf coast of Mississippe.... also total devastation from a wall of water that Katrina brought in as a storm surge, destroying buildings, and tossing cars around like toys.
And the blow to the economy will also be unbelievable, and could finally tip the already faltering US economy into the worst depression the world has ever seen.
The insruance claims alone may bankrupt the most important financial services industry in the nation.
Not to mention the escalating fuel costs and shortages and what all of that will bring.
And, just where is GOD in all of this mess?
Is He still with "The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave?"
I would have to say the answer to THAT is NO, He is sick and tired of our sinful way of life and is finally taking punitive action.
Most of you do not know that there was a planned GAY DEBAUCH FESTIVAL scheduled for New Orleans, where gays would engage in perverted sex acts in public, as they have done in previous years.
But of course, that is only ONE reason God was not with that city this week.
This should serve as a warning and a wake up call to ALL OF US that God's patience is wearing thin if not exhausted, and that if we do not repent of our national sins and turn to Him, then our cities will ALL be laid waste, and without inhabitant!
So, consider this a very serious WARNING ONLY of FAR WORSE TO COME in the very near future unless we as a nation straighten out and straighten out NOW!
This special program is in our Webcast Stream, and so we will not have part 3 in our series about the rising Whore of Babylon, but will continue next week, God willing.
